Bingo bigwigs take to the floor in the name of charidee!

When the big bingo guns come out, they sure come out a-blazing! Proving it’s charitable nature runs deeper than us mere mortals and bingo fans, the corporate arms of many a bingo operator have been out in force to raise funds for causes worthy to their hearts! Most recent were a number of Gala Coral Group’s directors, who raised nearly £2k for Sue Ryder Care by hosting a recent evening bingo session at the Gala Bingo club in Woking. Surrey.

A fully public session, the 10 bigwigs took to the floor, honouring the humble roots of the game of bingo with some even calling the numbers on two special charity games. The others also made themselves busy by serving food and drinks to the surprised customers, all in aid of Gala’s chosen charity of choice, Sue Ryder Care.

Sue Ryder Care provides expert and compassionate care to people living with life threatening conditions including Cancer, Multiple Sclerosis, Stroke and Huntington’s Disease. The guys at Gala Bingo certainly have their sights set high, with the aim of raising £1million by 2010 to help the charity continue to provide care that provides much needed help in 14 care centres and community-based services across the UK.

“It was a fantastic evening,” said Damian Cope, Gala Coral Group’s Chief Information Officer who called one of the dedicated charity games. “It was a great way to learn even more about our business directly from our customers and staff, while raising a fantastic amount for our group charity, Sue Ryder Care. We all really enjoyed the experience and want to thank everyone for their generosity and for making the evening such a great success.”

And those of you eagle eyed readers of our blog will no doubt remember the recent forary by the directors of online bingo operator Cashcade into the wonderful world of charity. The bingo operator, who run brands like Foxy Bingo, Cheeky Bingo and Think Bingo recently organised a sponsored race in London in aid of charity close to their hearts. Obviously we all expect the Fox to be a charitable sort, what with Foxy Bingo’s  recent Breast Cancer Awareness drive and their sponsorship of Comic Relief last year, but it’s always refreshing to see the top dogs taking time out from the boardroom to give a little back to charity! Long may it continue, and WTG to Gala and Cashcade for their efforts!
