Bingo fan Catherine Whitehead hit the jackpot when she found love while playing on her favourite online bingo website Gala Bingo. They certainly worked their magic on 38-year-old Catherine, who is currently taking a bit of time out from some eyes-down action to plan her dream wedding!
Preston native Catherine met perfect match Julian Brook, 46, who is from Hull on the Gala bingo website earlier this year. Despite a distance of 120 miles between them, it seems like the power of bingo had no trouble in matching the two! Following a friendly exchange of good luck in one of the game chat rooms, sparks began to fly as romance began to blossom.
Polite conversation in the public chat rooms quickly progressed to regularly waiting for each other online and then conversations in the private chat rooms. Soon they discovered their love of bingo wasn’t the only things they had in common, leading Catherine and Julian to swap email addresses.
And their digital romance didn’t stop there, with the two regularly using instant messaging and a webcam to get to know each other better. Eventually, they decided to take things a bit further, and arranged to actually speak.
Describing the moment she first heard Julian’s voice on the phone, Catherine said, “One evening I called Julian at midnight and we spoke until 7am.”
“I’d never felt this way about anyone before, it just felt so comfortable from the start.”
And things went from strength to strength when they arranged their first meet up in person, with Catherine saying theirs was definitely an instant attraction. She added: “We already knew each other really well because we’d spent hours online and on the phone chatting. Meeting each other face to face in Hull just confirmed how compatible we were.”
Catherine, who had never been in love prior to her bingo jackpot match, was initially cynical about the idea of whirlwind romances. But all of this soon melted away when she met Julian, saying she couldn’t help but fall quickly for him. Catherine added: “He is such a kind, easy going man and he’d do anything for me. It doesn’t matter where we are as long as we’re together.”
Catherine was a Gala Bingo club member for years until ill health temporarily prevented her getting out and about. When her daughter Rebecca suggested she use her laptop to help alleviate the boredom, Catherine went online and found the online version of her bingo club at Gala Bingo. She soon found the games provided the same sense of fun and community that she was used to at her local bingo club – and, as time would prove, a whole lot more!
Catherine said: “I’ve tried online bingo with lots of different sites.”
“It’s so easy to use and there’s a real sense of community. All the players know each other and the chat room moderators know you. I can play bingo in the day, but I like to play in the evening because I have more wins then. It feels fantastic when you win, it’s so exciting – I really love it!”
At the moment the couple are still in their respective home towns, but are managing to squeeze in time at weekends to visit each other, taking it in turns to drive over to each other. And despite having each other, the couple are still ardent fans of bingo, continuing to play online during the week and using the chat rooms online as a way of staying in contact. Even during the weekends, the two will go to their local bingo hall! Seems like these two are totally in love, with each other and with the game of bingo!! WTG!!!!
