Following the departure of Sir Peter Fry, the Bingo Association has announced that Brian Mattingley will replace him as the new chairman of the Association. Having worked in senior roles in numerous bingo operators, it is hoped that Mr Mattingley will provide the leadership required to navigate the industry through some of it’s most difficult operating conditions ever.
Prior to his appointment at the Commission, Mattingley worked in Strategy, Development and also as Finance Director of the Gala group during some of its stronger trading years. He has also served as Director of Gala Group Holdings Ltd and the Gala Coral Group Ltd, as well as sitting as Deputy Chairman and Senior Independent Non-Executive Director of 888 Holdings Plc since 2006.
Most recently, Mattingley acquired a chain of bingo clubs from Riva Gaming, with the aim to lead the clubs into the future for a new generation of bingo fans. With his demonstrable experience in the industry, there will be considerable pressure on Mattingley to provide direction to the Bingo Industry, and in particular the land based Bingo industry, which is currently facing tumbling profits and a number of tax rises.
