Chartwell Technology poach Gala Chief

gala-bingoDan Phillips, the former Gaming Director of the Gala Coral group will be moving to the Canadian based online gambling software developer and provider, Chartwell Technology. The group recently announced the appointment of Phillips as VP of Operations for its wholly owned subsidiary company Chartwell Games (International) Ltd.

Phillips, who was based in the UK for his previous role as Gaming Director, was a key figure within the Gala Coral group. In his role, he oversaw the operations in Casino, Bingo, TV and Poker. He leaves his role after 8 years service for the company. Prior to working for Gala Coral, Phillips worked at rival bookie Ladbrokes for seven years, heading up the departments responsible for their land based casino operations. With fifteen years in the gambling industry, Phillips will bring a wealth of experience and insight to the software developer, adding significantly to Chartwell Technologies offerings.

Chartwell Games Platform is the latest in fully certified, licensed hosting environments providing for the integration and deployment of multiple third-party gaming content, all of which can be operated from Chartwell’s powerful back office application, Cyberboss. Chartwell Technology stated they were delighted with Phillips decision, saying.  “The addition of Dan Phillips significantly expands our team’s capabilities and adds a wealth of experience from the operational perspective,” said Lee Richardson, Chief Executive Officer, Chartwell Games (International) Ltd.  “Dan will oversee our community and networked games divisions and our new fully managed services operations which include our soon to launch Chartwell Games Platform.”

When asked to comment on the move, Phillips said, “I am excited to be joining a progressive and ambitious company like Chartwell.”  He added, “I feel my experience in all aspects of online gaming operations will add value across our entire portfolio of products and services.”

The news will no doubt be another cloud on the Gala Coral horizon, which has been subject to much industry speculation regarding the stability of the company both financially and as a market leader. With Foxy Bingo and parent company Cashcade keen to capitalise on recent success and  many other online bingo sites holding up much better compared to Gala Bingo and following reports of a leaked RBS document, whilst Chartwell Technology may have cause for a celebration, Gala Coral may well not.
