Whilst it has been well documented that 888 Holdings have got in bed with Ignite, who operate the ever-growing Costa Bingo, the extent of the deal seems to be a little less clear. The initial reports suggested that Ignite Bingo would be taking over the marketing duties of 888 Holdings, which had recently been bolstered by the acquisition of Wink Bingo and Posh Bingo, adding to their line-up which already includes 888Bingo and the hugely popular 888Ladies Bingo.
But according to some reports, a reported larger scale operation could be underfoot. Rumours are currently abounding that 888 Holdings may be wanting a little more than marketing expertise from Ignite Bingo. There have been plenty of rumours abounding that 888 Holdings are looking to have an even bigger shopping spree in 2010 compared to 2009, with 888 Holdings chief executive Gigi Levy hinting that 888 have been in the market for more merger and acquisition properties.
With 888 Holdings making a tidy profit in 2009, and profits from Wink Bingo and Posh Bingo already kicking in to justify the £60million price they came with, Levy had recently said that the company was in preliminary negotiations with a much larger company.
Whether the use of Ignite Bingo functions as a bridge, with Costa Bingo sprinkling a little bit of its magic over the already hugely popular Posh Bingo and Wink Bingo or whether there could be more on the cards is still not known, but with the online bingo world at a constant state of fever pitch regarding takeovers and it’s top movers and shakers, it certainly wont be a secret for too long!
And considering Costa Bingo had humble bingo beginnings as an affiliate, it seems fitting that they should, after just 9 months of being open, be taking part in a little bit of online bingo business drama!
