10 for 10: Bingo Sponsorship Hits the Next Level

We’ve seen loads of news about big sponsorship deals, particularly between online bingo companies and TV Shows. As part of a wide reaching marketing blitz as the online bingo industry began to mature, sponsorship became a necessary addition for any self respecting bingo operator eager to utilise large TV audiences in their quest to hunt out new players.

Perhaps the Cashcade group are most notable for starting the trend, with bingo sites like Foxy Bingo, Think Bingo, Bingo Scotland and Cheeky Bingo securing lucrative daytime TV sponsorship on shows like the Jeremy Kyle show. Wink Bingo began taking this to the next level with its prime time sponsorship slots, giving Wink Bingo a presence on shows like Family Fortunes, Harry Hill’s TV Burp and The Cube.

But we think a sign of things to come rests with one of the biggest brands out there, Tombola Bingo. In what could be a pioneer in its approach to sponsorship, players from Tombola Bingo were picked to be the stars of the sponsorship bumpers of Emmerdale, allowing them to enjoy more than a few minutes of fame with a year long deal. Getting players on board, Tombola ensure new players can be sure that at Tombola Bingo, they really do treat their players like celebrities.

In return, the increased exposures allows more potential players to head over to the Tombola website, which is will also carry Emmerdale sponsorship. For example, the shows help to boost the number of players to their big promotions, most recently the Big Link Week. With cash prizes being given away on 90 ball games, Tombola Bingo are giving away a total of £70k in the first full week of January.  Players can still take part up until Sunday 10^th January, and with five daily games of £2k playing every half hour between 8-10pm, it seems like primetime sponsorship has led to primetime bingo at Tombola Bingo.

And we think these type of sponsorship deals will become more and more commonplace, as bingo operators look to combine the social and human aspects of bingo with it’s penchant for flashing the marketing and jackpot cash. Expect more sponsorship deals as the online bingo world hits the big time, and don’t be surprised if more than a few online bingo sites combine this with making their players stars.
