Foxy Bingo were among the six online bingo operators, recently short listed for the eGaming review’s award for “ Bingo Operator of the Year 2009”.  There’s been a lot of speculation over the last few weeks, with regards to who was inline for this top title.  Of course, we all noticed that Gala Bingo and Mecca weren’t part of the discussion!

That must have been a huge blow for both these companies… Once, these guys were virtually the ‘untouchables’ of UK bingo. Oh how the mighty have fallen, and to a very different kind of ‘bingo animal’ to boot ; )

At the much anticipated eGaming London awards ceremony, held in Old Billingsgate last night – November 30th – the famous fox walked away with this highly coveted prize.  Or rather, Cashcade MD and co-founder of Foxy Bingo, Simon Collins, collected the award from comic Mark Watson.  I bet he thanks the day he spawned the fox ; ) But the less details revealed over that score, the better…

The other operators who made it to the final six shouldn’t be forgotten in all the excitement!  Competition among the bingo operators is fierce.  It’s quite an achievement for an operator to be short listed.  Not only is the competition fierce, but the amount of operators competing is extensive.  Wink Bingo, William Hill, Jackpot Joy, Ladbrokes and Tombola Bingo all gave Foxy Bingo a run for his money.  It was also extremely interesting to see who either didn’t make it, or didn’t even bother entering at all.  Curiously, last years winner 888Ladies didn’t make a bid for the title this year.  Neither did Crown Bingo, who were runners up.  And as we know, Gala and Mecca never got to leave the bench.

Foxy Bingo were sure favourites to win.  Primarily due to the sale of Cashcade (their parent company) to the mighty Party Gaming earlier this year. Apparently, size being one of the criteria each operator was judged on – would be hard to top these guys right now… But it wasn’t just that, the judges were impressed by Foxy Bingo’s impressive ability to create brilliant TV ads.  As well as their commendable networking success and the launch of the incredibly successful Costa Bingo.

Although the results may not be that much of a surprise to many; being expected by most of those working within the industry; I’m sure it was still a nice feeling, t actually go pick up that prize.  After all, we are apart of the same circle of ‘Bingo Obsessed’… more than partial to a bit of that ourselves!  As they say, takes one to know one, and all that… Have you been “Foxified” yet?
