Gala Bingo is part of the Gala Coral Group: Who are among the leading club bingo and bingo online gaming operators in Europe; and the largest bingo provider in the UK – currently operating more than 175 clubs and boasting a membership which exceeds 5Million.  With all that bingo ‘clout’ Gala certainly hold a commanding position within the UK market.  Being under the limelight they are also in the perfect position to lead by example… so to speak.  And when it comes to charity none could say they haven’t been doing their upmost to live up to expectations.  In fact Gala Bingo has not just come up to expectations it could be said they have gone above and beyond the ‘call of duty’!

In 2009 the Gala Coral Group pledged to raise a much needed one million pounds for Sue Ryder Care – voted in May 2008 by their employees as the group’s nominated charity up until the end of this year.  Since then players, employees and the company have made great efforts to make sure that target is reached: From dog racing to mountain climbing.  If you can think of it, they have probably done it!  And incredibly that £1Million target has already been reached: Which just goes to show how generous UK Gala Bingo players can be – both with their time and their money.  A sentiment reflected by Chief Exec of Gala Coral Dominic Harrison: “The fundraising work carried out by Gala Bingo staff and customers to date has been truly inspirational, from the many local events right through to the trek to Everest Base Camp Trek.”

While that is an absolutely fantastic amount of money it does seem a shame to leave it there!  So, rather than stop all the good work Gala Bingo has decided to raise the target to £1.5Million:  Certainly good news for Sue Ryder.  This charity provides care for people dealing with long term and terminal illness – vital work.  “On behalf of Sue Ryder Care, I’d like to extend my sincere thanks to everyone at Gala Coral for their continued support” said Paul Woodward, Sue Ryder’s Chief Executive.  With 5million players there really is power in numbers! It is impossible to raise too much money for such a worthy cause so players are being asked to keep up the good work – so come on everyone, it is appreciated!
