The operators of the National Bingo game, which still offers one of the largest games available to land based bingo fans, have announced they are turning their attentions to good causes, with a brand new fundraising campaign ready to launch called Breakthrough Bingo. Working in association with Breakthrough, a pioneering breast cancer awareness company, the NBG will use the game of bingo to do what it does best – help people to have fun whilst supporting charitable causes.
The game takes place in the form of a scratch card, with the opportunity for a number of instant win cash prizes up to £1,000. A proportion of the profits will go towards Breakthrough Breast Cancer to aid them in the research, campaigning and support and education needed to help tackle the problem of breast cancer. With 1 in 9 women in the UK affected by breast cancer, and with bingo having a large female skew in it’s audience, it seems like the partnership is one that will be close to many player hearts.
Each ticket costs £1 to purchase, with NBG promising that 11.5p will go straight to Breakthrough Breast Cancer. In addition, all taxable profits raised by the scratch cards will go to the charity as well. The card has five numbers on it, and players will have to match the numbers on their card to the first 5 numbers called out on the National Bingo Game itself. The game is still a regular fixture in participating clubs, where it plays twice daily. For those who are fans of other bingo games but still want to take part, the numbers will be made available, meaning you wont have to miss out on getting involved with a fantastic cause.
The scheme will launch at the beginning of October, with a launch date scheduled for the 5th of October. In total, the scratch cards and games will run for three months. Running alongside the month long activity for this year’s Bingo for Breakthrough campaign, organisers hope that the NBG scheme will certainly help to break the total raised by bingo for the Breakthrough Breast Cancer charity from last year. The latest announcement will coincide with numerous other initiatives run by the Bingo for Breakthrough campaign, which is endorsed by the UK Bingo Association. To date, the Bingo for Breakthrough campaign has raised £3.1 million since it’s arrival back in 2003.
